Wrzeciono
The Borough of Bielany is part of Warsaw and has an area of 32.3 square kilometres, which accounts for around 6.5 per cent of the capital's area. The population of the whole borough is 145,000. The Bielany Borough is a set of estates constructed after World War II for workers employed in the large steal plant (Huta Warszawa).
While the majority of the estates became a co-operative, Wrzeciono Brzeziny remained as a
'patronat' estate. This estate is part of the Bielany Borough. It was built between 1962
and 1971 and consists of 108 buildings (5-11 floors) and 24,240 inhabitants. All flats are
council property. There is a concentration of pathology and crime.
