Nyíregyháza
Nyíregyháza is the seventh biggest city in Hungary with more than 113,000 inhabitants. Similar to the tendencies of the national population the rate of elderly people is increasing in the city, but compared to the national average, the population is relatively young in Nyíregyháza. More than 170 mixed owned or multinational enterprises (Béker, Flextronics International, Michelin, Voest Alpin) and 17 banks were settled and work in the city.
More than 50 per cent of the enterprises of the county and the employees concentrate in
the city. The middle and high level education is well developed - basically in the field
of education of teachers - and that ensures the proper number of well educated young experts
for the city and the other part of the country as well. The official unemployment rate is 8-9
per cent. The composition of the housing units is quite young, as the massive construction period
started after 1960.
